More and more often we see in the news and read in the press about the problems of obesity in the Hungarian population. During the COVID epidemic, too, the risk factor was unfortunately higher for the overweight, so it is essential that the food industry provides some kind of response to this problem. In the case of the baking industry and its products, the responsibility is even more pronounced, as products with a high glycaemic index - white flour, sugar - are at risk of rapidly leading to obesity. Of course, carbohydrate intake is a prerequisite for a healthy diet, but the form in which it is consumed is far from being the only factor! It is well known that breads and bakery products made from wholemeal flours have a better physiological effect, but these flours are difficult to incorporate into products with a sweet taste. The fibre intake is generally low in Hungarian cuisine, but this could be beneficial in terms of the glycaemic index - slow absorption.
Seeing and knowing this problem, F&R Partner Ltd - Baking Industry - has set itself the goal to develop a product that can support healthy eating guidelines by using appropriate and unique ingredients. Let's admit it, everyone loves sweet baked goods, whether for breakfast, a snack, or as a quick calorie supplement! Many of the products currently on the market are made from white flour with a high sugar content, so insulin levels spike immediately after consumption, and we already know the negative effects of this. You need a product that is absorbed slowly and does not leave you feeling hungry two or three hours later. F&R Partner Ltd. has found the raw material to develop a modified starch-based system that meets consumer expectations in every respect, i.e. customers do not have to abandon the flavours, tastes and shapes they are used to, and can "sneak" dietary fibre into their daily lives. In addition, the product should be "sufficient" in quantity for a delicious snack between main meals, which is guaranteed to the maximum by the NASIZZ, as it is already called. 100 g of the product contains 50 % fillings, selected from the most typical and popular flavours: walnut, poppy seed, cherry, apple, chestnut, cottage cheese. Thanks to the modified starch fibre already mentioned, of which 6.5 g per 100 g, NASIZZ has a low glycaemic index and the feeling of fullness is long-lasting.
The innovation development of the product was supported by the 2018-1.1.1-MKI - Supporting Innovation Activities of Micro and Small Enterprises, 94.440.808 HUF in the form of a non-repayable grant. And the product is "born", NASIZZ will soon be in the shops! We hope to contribute to a healthier diet for the Hungarian population, while preserving the flavours we love and are used to! The chosen product name is also a slogan - NASIZZ - in which case we shouldn't feel guilty about eating this delicious treat.
F&R Partner Ltd. will initiate a domestic patent procedure at the National Intellectual Property Office for the new NASIZZ product line that will be developed.
